The first message is from Travis, our Head Coach and Chief of Race:
Well folks.  The Moose Marathon is upon us on Feb 24th!  (Race Notice is here.)  All kids in the Rabbits program will be once again registered.  Race distances are 1.5, 5, 10, 15 or 30 km’s.  Pretty relaxed format.  Mass start for everyone at the same time, unless you are doing 30 km’s.
In which case you will start at 10 am because you need to do two laps of the long moose and it will take you some time.  All other distances (1.5,5,10, 15 K) all start at 11 am.
Race courses are along the moose hwy except for the 1.5 K:
1.5 - the jack rabbit loop plus a little bit of the stadium.  Much the same as the snow valley open course.
- out the moose hwy with a turn a round at the lone wolf and back along the rainbow to snow bound then back up beaver and onto JR to return to stadium.
10 - the short moose with the same return path as the 5 K once back to the rainbow.
15 - lap of the long moose and rainbow etc. to return
30 - two laps of the 15 with an earlier start.
It will be a free technique race so you can classic if you want to classic or skate if you want to skate.
Choco bars for all finishers once again!!!
Little group warm ups before hand if we all look like we are good to go a little bit early we might start a little bit early.
So get your long course legs revved up and have a fun relaxed ski or race it if you like.  There will treats (sustenance!) at two stops out on the longer courses with some water to drink.
Jack Rabbit PARENTS !!  IF YOU COULD PLEASE EMAIL ME  AND LET ME KNOW HOW FAR YOUR CHILD WOULD LIKE TO RACE THAT WOULD BE GREAT!  Then I can have everything ready for race day :)  Also if you would like to race yourself just let me know your distance.  We certainly encourage all family members to ski out there themselves that day too.

And we encourage anyone who loves to ski (any club members or day pass patrons) to join this fun event.  Race fee for all non-JackRabbits kids is $5.00, payable at the registration table prior to the race, between 9:30 and 10:30.  It helps Travis greatly if you could pre-register by emailing him at the address above.  Challenge yourself with a longer-than-normal ski distance!  Remember:  All participants who cross the finish line will get a chocolate bar!

Cheers and look forward to hearing from you soon.
Now a message from the rest of the executive:
What a ski season!!  Any earlybird members who still have their free passes should grab a friend and introduce them to the trails!
Two things:
1.  Half season rates started February 15th.  This is a really good deal, looking forward.  An adult day pass now for the rest of the season is $80, seniors pay $55, etc. (available here (to print off a form or for a link to register online.)  We will have a long season still, and spring skiing is THE BEST skiing.
2.  Raffle tickets are available from any member of the executive, and will be on sale at the prize display trailer at the Moose Marathon.  Tickets are $20.  All proceeds go to improving club facilities and machinery, so don't be shy to contribute!  And if anyone wants to sell a booklet of tickets for us, please contact Sue.

Enough reading.  Those trails await:  have a great ski weekend!
