The Newest News--January. 2012
Happy New Year Everyone and I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. I went south for 2 weeks and being one of those luddites who doesn’t check emails when on holidays, was somewhat dismayed to find how much work the remaining executive had to do to keep the trails open over the break. This is Snow Valley but who expected this much!!?
Via email conferencing the executive discussed closing the trails during the week to cut costs and give the groomers a break. But the groomers are willing to keep at it and if it would just stop snowing every 5 minutes we’d have great trails! So the trails remain open 7 days a week.
There’s a but coming here you know… but, members need to be aware that groomers are all volunteers with day jobs who groom in their spare time so grooming will not always be perfect. During the week, they will focus their efforts on the Dog Trail and the Lit track. On the week ends they will do their best to get the Moose in good shape. If the weather gives us a break, more will be done and it will last longer.

A word about grooming wet snow. We can groom it, and we can ski on it, but when it freezes hard, it’s going to be boiler plate out there and we can’t groom that. Then we just have to wait for, you guessed it, more snow! So everyone has to pray for about 6 weeks of minus 2 degree weather with occasional light flurries. Got that?
