Hello everyone – looks like it’s snow season! If only it would migrate a little further west! We have a ton of good news this month so let’s get started.
Our AGM on Oct. 28 was a success and many delicious deserts were consumed. The new executive is the same as the old one except for the Prez who is now me – Liz Thorne, again. I’m not my first choice but Dan has stepped down as prez and the rest of the crew are really happy where they are sooo…. Here I am.
The official exec. list is:
Hi Everyone! Just a quick update to remind you that the Annual General Meeting will be held on Saturday, October 28th at 7 pm in the lodge at Onion Lake. Kids are welcome and 2 free day passes will be given to all adults who attend. Luscious deserts will be served....and if you have a chance to bring some goodies to add to the array, please do!
Hello everyone and happy New Year! September always feels like the new part of the year to me. It’s been a while since the last newsletter and even though it’s been the off season, quite a few things have been happening so let’s get started.
Hello everybody, and a Happy Spring to all! What a jumble of a year it has been! First we worried that winter wasn’t coming. Then that it was going too fast and then was it ever going to go!? However, we skied until mid-April this year with only one missed week in February when we thought we were doomed!
We are asking for all seasonal ski rentals to be returned to the ski club this Saturday April 1st from noon to 2pm at the ski trails. And we are looking for volunteers to help with waxing the rental skis and preparing the clubs rental equipment for off season storage.
The Club is also hosting a volunteer appreciation supper at 4:30 pm. Cathy is making a huge batch of chili. It’s time to thank all the volunteers that make our ski trails happen, groomers, rental shed volunteers, coaches, Snow Flake Café helpers, families that bring soup and baked goods, facilities and equipment maintenance, members assisting with club events like our ski races and open house and the near endless list of jobs that need doing all year long. Every little chore you can image that needs doing is done by our member volunteers. Hey did the Groomers do a spectacular job this year or what? Show your appreciation!
The rental shed is open now only by pre-arranged appointment. Please call someone from the executive to set up a time. (See the "contact us" page on this website.) We will try our best to accomodate those who want to rent to enjoy some spring skiing!
Last week we challenged all early bird members to give their two free passes away--all free passes that came through the envelopes in the day fee locked box (Thursday to Sunday) would be entered into a draw for a $25 TimCard. And the winner is....Michelle Riley, from Terrace! Congratulations, Michelle! And thank you to all who brought someone out skiing over the weekend!
The rental shed will be open April 1st, noon to 2 p.m., to take in all rental gear. Mark this date on your calendar if you've rented gear from the club this season--it needs to come home for inventory and maintenance. And if anyone would like to help with waxing skis, come on down!
